The reason that WWII was a war on the part of The United States of America is that the Congress declared war. Only the Congress can do that. The UN police action in Korea was just that on our part. The SEATO treaty action in Vietnam was just that on our part. Operation Desert Sword was a recue action on our part also. Now I am aware that all of these were also bona fide wars on the part of the original participanst and possiblh some others, but not on our part. If they had been, there would have been more lives lost and much more changes at home.
The fact that the last war that we were actiually constitutionaly in was WWII does not change the fact that many of our soldiers did earn bona fiide medals by doing actual acts of heroism. The fact is though that some of us who rememger the last war--WWII-- are offended at others calling the other military actions wars, as though we were actuallh at war. I will argue this with anyone.
